Spring/Summer 2021 Trend Report

What’s new for Spring/Summer Hair Trends 2021?

Let’s face it, hair is an essential part of our unique signature looks. With Spring/Summer 2021 around the corner we are all looking for change.

As a stylist, I’m always keeping up-to-date with trending styles, so here is your trend report!

Get ready for come-back looks from the 90’s! Welcome back big bouncy blow dries using large round brushes and velcro rollers.  The ones I recommend are linked here on my Amazon Storefront. The smaller the roller more curls your get and the larger the roller the more bounce you'll achieve.  KMS playable texture spray will help you achieve texture in bobs, shags and layered looks that will play a big part this season!  Compliment these looks with a curtain fringe or curtain bang, continuing to trend through 2021. Follow Instagram @hairby.cristina or TIKTOK @hairby.cristina for examples of how to style a curtain fringe and other hair hacks.

Warmer colour trends will dominate this Spring/Summer. Colours like toffee, chestnut, caramel and chocolate for brunettes. For blondes, think butter, honey, wheat and golds. Cinnamon and amber for redheads. Also remaining as a trend but slowly becoming a staple in colouring hair is balayage and lived in colouring.

Face framing highlights aka “the money piece”  and heavier highlights and sections are also trending. Anything low maintenance and showing a soft grown-out look, remains steady.

For accessories, be on the lookout for floral print headscarf’s or abstract accessories. Kim Kardashian has recently been spotted wearing a headscarf. There are multiple looks you can achieve with a head scarf! Wear it around your head like a bandana, around your ponytail, as a scarf or weaved into your braids. From a fashion perspective, try it around your neck (think flight attendant); or an accessory to your handbag wrapped around the handle dangling off as a fun addition.

Pantone colours released for 2021 are yellow and grey.  These colours generally don’t translate well for hair and will be seen more in accessories and clothing, think yellow handbags and grey trench coats.

Overall, these hair colour and style trends will compliment the wide legs jeans, oversized shirts and exaggerated shoulder looks, just to name a few we should expect to see in fashion trends in 2021. Can’t wait!

Share inspiration pictures and talk to your stylist during consultation about how you’d like to incorporate any of these trends into something wearable yet trendy for the seasons ahead!
